Recommended Travel Gear & Resources

I’ve spent hundreds of hours researching the best travel gear, and the best resources available for travel. All the gear and here is battle-tested through 30+ countries.

Keep in mind that these may not be the highest-end items. My goal with this page is to recommend gear that is priced well, while still providing a high-quality standard. It’s the stuff I use in my day to day traveling life.

So you’ve decided you want to travel. Now you need the travel gear to keep yourself safe and comfortable. For this, you need somebody with knowledge of what you should be looking for, and some coin. Even frugal travelers need to spend sometimes!

It is really important that you get a proper backpack to keep your back healthy, and all you stuff safe. I remember when I was 20 and traveling around Cambodia and Thailand with a cheap little daypack with no back support and just a thin mesh between the world and my iPad and passport (young and dumb, I know). I am lucky nobody unzipped my bag and stole my valuables when I was looking away.

Don’t rely on luck as I did. Theft can happen anywhere. Especially when you are in a foreign country where you are not familiar with the culture. You stick out like a sore thumb and become a target. A proper anti-theft backpack can keep you and your stuff safe, and keep your back healthy for years and years.

Cutting corners when it comes to your backpack and travel clothing may seem cheap now. But down the road, it can cause you a lot of grief and pain. I think it is wise to spend a bit more now, so you don’t end up losing your stuff in a few months, or worse ruining your back in the future.
