Packing cubes are the single most brilliant invention for the organized traveler. It may not seem like an essential item, and it isn’t but it sure is the cheapest and biggest quality of life upgrade you can make on your travels after having a proper backpack.
The Packing Cubes We Recommend
While most packing cubes come as regular cubes that you just zip up and put in your bag, we are going to recommend something better for you.
The huge clunky packing cubes are totally adequate, and if you have the options of those or nothing, they are totally fine.
The ones we are recommend you are the Eagle Creek Compression Packing Cubes (click for our full review). These packing cubes have a zipper around them that compresses them down to about half the size of the originals.
If you use these cubes in addition to the backpack we recommend you have a winner of a lightweight travel setup.
Eagle Creek Compression Packing Cubes
The huge advantage of these is that they allow you to travel with a carry-on bag only. They take up no space at all and allows you to keep your stuff organized wherever you decide to go
When you need them, simply take them out of your bag, and put them in the dresser. Need to use them? Open the top zipper and compression zipper and you got all your things nicely organized.
I recommend using the rolling method for packing your clothes in these packing cubes in order to see everything you brought with you easily from above.
Here is an example of how I pack my underwear and shorts. Simple and easy to use.
Don’t put shirts or other things that can get wrinkled in here though, they won’t look nice after the compression treatment.
